Chirsty is particularly interested in the role employers can play in reducing inequalities. Since joining the Fraser of Allander Institute in 2021, she has undertaken several research projects with employers as well as delivered training workshops for them in collaboration with organisations such as SCLD and Salvesen Mindroom.

Before working as an economist, Chirsty was a student and an activist. Social and environmental justice have led her down many interesting paths, including being a member of the UK Youth Climate Coalition and a committee member of Sustainable Communities Initiatives in Kinghorn, Fife. In her non-working life, she can be found in Glasgow, usually playing video games, reading books or doing crafts with her husband and two cats.

Chirsty has been a member of the SUSE Board of Trustees since November 2025.
