The Local Authority Supported Employment Network (LASEN) meets on a regular basis to promote Supported Employment as a model across the 32 Local Authorities in Scotland and to discuss strategies to improve Supported Employment services, support colleagues and share learning.

SUSE was asked to provide the secretariat for the network and organise the meetings, which take place three times a year – two online meetings – April and August – and one in-person meeting in December.

Each Local Authority in Scotland will have be a member of the network and a senior staff member from the Supported Employment Service or the most senior member of staff with responsibility for disabled people’s services in their Employability Service will attend the meetings and report back.

The network has no statutory decision-making powers but will be able to suggest action points to be taken forward by members and/or SUSE.

Regular topics for discussion are:

  • Updates from Local Authorities on Supported Employment Services
  • Supported Employment – learning and key challenges
  • National impacts
  • SES Implementation Group and SES updates
  • Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to Get Britain Working
  • Training Needs / Job Coaching / TSI Capacity Building
  • Revised PDA in Supported Employment
  • Update on the Quality Standard in Supported Employment for Scotland
