As David Cameron hands over the reins to our new CEO, Grant Campbell, we would like to express our sincere thanks for his nine years of leadership and service.
David’s commitment and vision have helped shape not only our organisation, but the wider Supported Employment sector across Scotland. Under his leadership, SUSE led the groundbreaking Apt Public Social Partnership, working alongside 67 partner organisations and engaging hundreds of employers and employees to help reduce Scotland’s Disability Employment Gap. The project has left a lasting legacy, with its blueprint continuing to influence inclusive employment practice across the country.
David also championed the development of the SUSE Experience Network, ensuring that people with lived experience of disability were placed at the heart of our work, helping to shape projects, training and employer engagement.
Beyond this, he was instrumental in the update of the Professional Development Award (PDA) in Supported Employment, the advancement of Scotland’s Quality Standard for Supported Employment, and ensuring Supported Employment remained firmly part of national discussions during the introduction of Specialist Employability Support services. His leadership extended to delivering SUSE’s Annual Conference, which has become a key event for practitioners, employers and stakeholders across Scotland’s Supported Employment sector.
David’s contribution to SUSE and his dedication to improving opportunities for disabled people across Scotland have been immense. We are enormously grateful for all he has given to the organisation and the sector, and we wish him every success and happiness in his next chapter.
