SUSE thanks David Cameron as he prepares to step down as CEO and welcomes new Chief Executive Grant Campbell

The Scottish Union of Supported Employment (SUSE) has announced that David Cameron will be stepping down as Chief Executive at the end of July 2026, following nine years in the role.

During his time as CEO, David has played a central role in strengthening SUSE’s voice, influence and impact across Scotland’s Supported Employment landscape. His leadership has supported progress in improving choice, opportunities and inclusion for disabled people, while building strong relationships across the sector.

Reflecting on his time at SUSE, David said:

“At the end of July 2026, I will be leaving SUSE after nine years as CEO. I’ve loved the role, and while I’ll be sad to move on, it feels like the right time for a new chapter.

I hope that during my time at SUSE we’ve made some positive progress. There is still much to do, but I’m proud of the part we’ve played in improving choice and opportunities for disabled people across Scotland.

I’m very grateful to the many friends and colleagues in the sector for their support over the years, and especially to the SUSE staff, past and present. It has been a real privilege to work alongside such a committed and talented group of people and I’m confident the organisation will continue to do important and valuable work.

I hope to see many of you at the SUSE Conference on 19 May to say goodbye, or at other points over the coming months. In the meantime, my sincere thanks for the opportunity to lead SUSE, it has truly been an honour.”

SUSE colleagues, members and partners will have opportunities over the coming months to celebrate David’s contribution and to thank him for his leadership and commitment to the organisation and the wider sector.

Welcoming SUSE’s new Chief Executive

SUSE has also confirmed that Grant Campbell will join the organisation as Chief Executive Officer on 1 July 2026. Grant joins SUSE from Homeless Network Scotland, where he was Head of Partnerships and Collaboration.

Grant brings extensive experience of working in complex, person‑centred systems, with a strong focus on social justice, collaboration and strategic partnerships. His skills and values position him well to lead SUSE into its next chapter and to build on the strong foundations established under David’s leadership.

Commenting on his appointment, Grant said:

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at SUSE and starting this new chapter with them. SUSE have played a significant role in Scotland’s Supported Employment landscape, and I’m looking forward to this next phase and the opportunities that lie ahead.”

The SUSE Board and staff would like to thank David for his outstanding contribution over the past nine years and warmly welcome Grant to the organisation. SUSE remains committed to supporting high‑quality Supported Employment and to working in partnership to create fairer, more inclusive workplaces across Scotland.
