Online Gaming and Gambling Harm in Young People
Please note that Ygam is taking the bookings for this event. Do not fill in the SUSE form above.
When: Tuesday 5th August from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm
Where: On Teams
Who: Delivered by Ygam that is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to preventing gaming and gambling harms among young people. Their work bridges the critical knowledge gap between young people’s digital lives and the adults who guide them. They believe in harm prevention through education, empowering the people who can make a real difference.
What: As someone working in Supported Employment or support organisations, you’re often the first to spot signs that a young person might be struggling. While gaming and digital activities can be positive forces in young lives, they can bring evolving risks that impact children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. This training equips you with the knowledge to identify these risks. The information you receive is transferable when working with vulnerable adults who are involved in gaming and/or online gambling. This training course is certified by City & Guilds and Ygam will provide resources for you to use after the session is over.
Learning outcomes:
- The learner will understand why children and young people might game/gamble
- The learner will understand what is meant by gaming/gambling related harm
- The learner will recognise the signs of gaming/gambling related harm
- The learner will know where to find further support
The learner will have increased confidence when talking to children, young people and vulnerable adults about gaming and gambling.
