Do you have an understanding of the challenges faced by our service users and the skills to increase their voice when it comes to the Action Group’s services and operations?

This is a new role, and the successful candidate will be responsible for increasing the representation of those who may find it difficult to engage.  Knowledge and experience of the emotional and practical difficulties faced by our service users is essential.

  • Part time – 19.5 hours per week
  • £12,867 – £13,455 per annum
  • Based in Edinburgh, with travel across the Lothians and Falkirk

Your collaborative and outgoing nature will be helpful in building and maintaining strong and meaningful relationships across all levels of the organisation; and you will share The Action Group’s values, especially surrounding confidentiality.

Working in partnership with the Communications Officer, you will be involved in developing online engagement and communication; and you will be instrumental in facilitating new and existing communication groups and forums for our service users and their families.

You will work closely with the Quality Team to ensure policies and paperwork are user-focused and accessible; and your involvement with the HR Team will be key in shaping the recruitment function to be more person-centred and inclusive of our service users.

As a socially confident and engaging person, you will be highly involved in user-facing communication events such as conferences and connect events, and you will assist representatives of the Action Group to attend networks and forums of interest across the sector and in wider society.

A familiarity with non-verbal communication tools such as Talking Mats and Easy Read are advantageous, and experience in working with people with additional support needs is essential.
